Brow Lift

What is a brow lift?

Sometimes as we age, the eyebrows descend and cause a tired or “mean” look. Restoring a more youthful and rested appearance involves lifting the brows up to a more normal and desirable position. There are several ways to lift the brows, and often the procedure is combined with a blepharoplasty.

Patients often are worried about being left with an unnatural “surprised” look. We always aim for a natural appearance when doing this procedure, and most patients are back in public after only a few days.

What to expect:

Our surgeons will carefully examine your facial structure to determine the best approach to take during your procedure. Incisions may be along the brow line, above the brow and hidden in the hair in order to lift the brow area and possibly remove excess skin. This helps to correct visible lines and creases in the forehead for a smoother, younger look. The exact surgical process will vary depending on gender, hairline and facial structure. After surgery, the incisions are closed with sutures or staples.

Recovery:

You usually go home the same day . Your forehead may feel tight after surgery and will loosen over time. Sleep with your head elevated to better promote the healing process. Visible swelling and bruising usually subside within one or two weeks but complete swelling may take longer to completely resolve. No exercise for about 1-2 weeks and no heavy lifting. Depending on your profession, you may return to work within 1 week. While the results from brow surgery are long lasting, the aging process will continue normally. Brow lifts are often combined with other facial procedures, such as a facelift or eyelid lifts, to rejuvenate the entire face. Patients may also choose to incorporate ongoing treatments of BOTOX® to help preserve the results of their surgery for longer.
