Pink with Purpose: The Why Behind Our Annual Event

Every year, our team at Forsyth Plastic Surgery and the Vista Med Spa hosts Pink with Purpose, an event built around a simple idea: raising awareness, promoting screening, and saving lives. It would be easy to look at an event like this and assume it is just another charity gala on the calendar. For us, it is not. Pink with Purpose exists because of the patients we see every day, and 2026 marks the fifth year we have raised funds for this cause.

Why This Cause Is Personal to Us

Breast cancer is not an abstract cause for our practice. Our surgeons work directly with breast cancer patients through mastectomy and reconstruction care, which means this partnership connects to the people we actually treat, not a charity we picked off a list. We see firsthand what a diagnosis means for a patient and her family, and we see just as clearly how much earlier detection can change that path. That perspective is part of why screening access, specifically, is where our giving is focused.

Where the Money Actually Goes

Novant Health Think Pink Fund materials and gifts at a past Pink with Purpose event

All proceeds raised through Pink with Purpose benefit the Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation's Think Pink Fund, a fund built around one goal: increasing access to mammograms for underinsured and uninsured women across our region. Novant Health Foundation puts its mission simply: no more excuses, just more mammograms. Every gift to the fund goes directly toward covering a 3D mammogram for someone in our community who could not otherwise afford one. Cost is one of the most common reasons women delay or skip screening altogether, and this fund exists to remove that barrier.

"Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation has made access to screening 3D mammography a top priority over the years and they continue to provide funding for the underserved in our community through the Think Pink Fund. Early detection is so vital, and our foundation realizes how important it is for every woman to have access to mammography regardless of her ability to pay." Kim Cannon, Regional Mammography Manager, Novant Health Breast Center, Winston-Salem

Real Impact, Real Patients

Novant Health Foundation has shared stories from women whose own diagnosis journeys were shaped by this fund, women who received the screening that caught something early because cost was not standing in the way. Those stories are a big part of why our team keeps showing up for this event year after year. An earlier mammogram does not just change a treatment plan. In many cases, it changes a woman's outcome entirely.
