Miguel I. Dorante, MD, MBE
He then moved west to St. Louis, MO to sub-specialize in Peripheral Nerve Surgery at the Neuropax Clinic, one of a small number of practices in the country devoted to the surgical treatment of nerve pain and nerve injury. There he trained in nerve decompression, nerve reconstruction, and functional restoration alongside the full range of hand, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. In September 2026, Dr. Dorante joins Forsyth Plastic Surgery, and he and his wife are excited to make Winston-Salem and the Triad their home.
Dr. Dorante is board-eligible with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has authored dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles spanning peripheral nerve surgery, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, surgical ethics, and health policy, and has presented his work at several local, national, and international meetings. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Peripheral Nerve. He became a surgeon because he enjoys helping people and solving complex problems, and his practice is built around a simple goal: improving quality of life and getting patients back to what they enjoy. He sees patients in both English and Spanish.
Outside the OR, Dr. Dorante is an avid soccer fan – he played competitively through college but now channels that energy into cheering for AC Milan and following Formula 1. He also enjoys cooking, hiking, and is looking forward to getting to know the community he and his wife, Amanda, a local reconstructive urologist, now call home.
