GEORGE A. LAWSON III, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Lawson grew up in Aiken, SC where he was valedictorian of his high school. He then moved on to Winston-Salem, NC to attend Wake Forest University and finished with honors. He completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and finished in the top 10 of his class.
Dr. Lawson’s interest in surgery took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he finished a challenging 5-year residency in General Surgery. He then completed his training with a plastic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, where he was nominated for the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship. It was at the Mayo Clinic where he learned the most advanced and up-to-date procedures in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. In 2012, Dr. Lawson joined Forsyth Plastic Surgery, and he and his family are excited to have returned to Winston-Salem and the Triad area.
Dr. Lawson is board certified by The American Board of Surgery and The American Board of Plastic Surgery and has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in plastic surgery, hand surgery, and general surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has also had the honor of presenting at numerous local and national plastic surgery and hand surgery meetings.
Dr. Lawson is married to his lovely wife Amy, and together they have three beautiful young children. He enjoys golfing, fishing, cheering on the Demon Deacons, spending time with his family, and staying involved at church.
